While SLU is not an academic powerhouse like WashU, it holds up in some ways. For example, SLU law students have the unique opportunity to study at their Center for Health Law Studies, which is considered one of the best places to study health law in the country (USNews & World Report in its special ranking places it number one nationally). SLU also has a decently respected center for international and comparative law and several clinics, including a trial clinic and a criminal defense clinic. This ranking includes all J.D. students who have completed the fall semester and are not included in the first or third year ranking. These students receive both a numeric rank and a percentile rank. SLU LAW is located in Scott Hall, a 12-story building located at 100 N. Tucker Blvd. in downtown St. Louis. [9] The building contains classrooms, the law library, the school`s administrative and faculty offices, event spaces and a restaurant called “The Dodlet”. The legal clinics are located on the 7th floor of the building. The 12th floor, added to the building during renovations, is almost entirely glass and offers views of the surrounding downtown from the courtroom and indoor and outdoor event spaces.

The school`s downtown location puts it close to many municipal, state, and federal law firms and courts.
